UN monitors SA gender based violence

The United Nations is closely monitoring the escalating incidents of gender-based violence in South Africa. Executive Director for UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, says it’s disturbing that perpetrators are getting younger, and that the crimes are becoming more gruesome. She was speaking at the 30th anniversary of a Cape Town based gender based violence NGO, Ilitha Labantu. She says funds are needed to be able to eliminate gender based violence.
16 Days of Activism against GBV came to an end earlier this week. We now leave you with the address by Mlambo-Ngcuka
