The dust won’t settle around the controversy surrounding the book “The Lost Boys of Bird Island”.
This past weekend an Afrikaans Sunday newspaper (Rapport) apologized to three former National Party ministers and their families for their reports on the book.
In the book three former National Party ministers were linked to paedophile activities, at amongst others, Bird Island in the mid-80’s.
Two of the ministers were named, but a third minister was not named.
In August last year former NP Finance minister Barend du Plessis told the same newspaper that the description of the third minister fitted him, but he denied any involvement.
Du Plessis spoke to the Executive Producer of Fokus, Alet van Rensburg Wright. Let’s take a look.
