Zimbabwe is a country in a dire state. With decades of economic turmoil and a recent rise in police brutality, load-shedding is yet another issue that has escalated, leaving Zimbabweans stressed and often in the dark. It is reported that the state-owned Zesa Holdings, which has a non-binding agreement with Eskom, has escalated power cuts to up to 24 hours after losing power imports, with local generation capacity constrained. Xavier Chidewe who is a student, tells of the difficulties of studying in Zimbabwe amid all the blackouts.
