The SABC has announced that the first consultation with organised labour will be held at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration or CCMA on Tuesday the 13th of this month.
The consultation forms part of the strategy that is intended at bringing a solution on the impasse around the implementation of Section 189 of the labour Relations Act impasse which involves retrenchments.
The organisation says it has a wage bill of R3.1 billion on a revenue of R7.2 billion, and one of the cost cutting approaches is to cut that wage bill.
The unions say this route can be avoided and two of them are with us now, welcome to Hannes Du Buisson from BEMAWU and Aubrey Tshabalala, from CWU.
