Rwanda’s journey towards developing cashless economy

According to the international Growth Center, using cash as a means of payments costs national economies 1.5 per cent of GDP yet stubbornly, 85 per cent of global consumer payments continue to be made in cash. As Rwanda intensifies the “cashless economy” drive, CNBC Africa caught up with the National Bank of Rwanda’s Governor, John Rwangombwa to help us understand how the regulator is looking to hasten the migration.
