The Constitutional Court has found that Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane lied under oath and submitted falsehoods to the country’s highest court. Judges today ruled that she must personally pay costs of a portion of the Reserve Bank’s legal fees for their application that overturned her findings in the ABSA case.
In 2017 she found that Parliament must change the constitution to change the mandate of the reserve bank, after her investigation into the bailout of Bankcorp in the 1990s. Her findings were overturned in the high court and today ConCourt judges ruled eight- to two that she should carry some of the costs. is from TGR Attorneys and joins us for an analysis.
