Ten suspects are expected to appear in the East London Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud, corruption and money laundering.
They were arrested by the Hawks on Thursday in connection with a R600 million tender for the construction of toilets in the Eastern Cape. Almost R300 million rand had already been paid to the suspects.
National Treasury complained after finding out the suspects had allegedly colluded in accessing the Amathole District Municipality funds through improper procurement processes.
