This move has largely been interpreted as the return of an elite crime busting unit – the Scorpions – that was dissolved in 2009. It is believed that the decision to dissolve the Scorpions was a political one following a resolution adopted at the ANC’s Polokwane conference in December 2007, and some analysts are adamant that the same fate awaits this new directorate because of high levels corruption…
