The Political Party Funding Bill before parliament which has been tabled by parliament seeks to bring the rules and regulations for how South Africa’s elections are run up to speed ahead of the 2019 general elections. A recent judgment by the Constitutional Court has added impetus to the enactment of legislation that many critics of the status quo have long argued is considerably overdue.
