Members of the Lomshiyo Traditional Authority march over land claims

Disgruntled members of the Lomshiyo Traditional Authority are today marching on the offices of Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza.
This follows a 21-year unresolved land claims dispute. The Mekemeke community lodged a claim in 1996 for the land they believe was stolen from them during colonialism and apartheid – but to this day they remain in limbo. They allege that there are widespread fraud and corruption in the land restitution process with prices for earmarked land being inflated.
