The defence team in the trial of the former North West Deputy Police Commissioner and three other senior officers has successfully argued for the state to reveal details of dockets from both scenes of the Marikana massacre. General William Mpembe and his three co-accused face charges of defeating the ends of justice and contravening both the IPID and the Marikana Commission act.
They allegedly covered up the murder of one of the 34 Marikana miners. He died while in police custody. Lucas Mothibedi reports.
