The Nelson Mandela Foundation has expressed sadness at the loss of another struggle giant, Rica Hodgson. The apartheid activist died on Thursday afternoon from a long-term illness. Hodgson spent most of her adult life as a freedom fighter, and lived almost three decades in exile. She also served as Walter Sisulu’s secretary and worked with the first democratic President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela.
