Johannesburg City officials say the delivery of services to Alexandra is being hampered by lawlessness and the illegal occupation of land.
Gauteng’s outgoing Human Settlements MEC, Uhuru Moiloa was speaking at the inquiry into the quality of life of Alex residents. The Human Rights Commission and the Public Protector are jointly investigating service delivery issues that could be linked to maladministration and the abuse of power. Residents are demanding to know what happened to one point three billion rands budgeted for the area’s renewal in 2001.
