South Africa’s largest food producer, Tiger Brands, is reportedly considering selling its processed meat business. This is the meat business that owns the Enterprise Foods facility that in 2018 was blamed for the world’s worst outbreak of Listeriosis by health authorities. It left more than 200 people dead. Tiger Brands has reportedly received offers for the Value Added Meat Products Division – that owns Enterprise, Bokkie and Oros. In the meantime, however, the company is facing a class action lawsuit over the Listeriosis outbreak. It is resisting settling the suit, saying that no direct link has been proven between its products and the deadly outbreak.
Could this possibly affect that lawsuit filed by human rights lawyer, Richard Spoor?
To discuss this we’re joined by Attorney Alexander Spoor from Richard Spoor Attorneys.
