Following the 2019 elections, the next steps are the president’s inauguration and the swearing in of MP’s. The chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission, Glen Mashinini, has handed over a list of 830 elected officials to the Chief Justice, Mogoeng Mogoeng. The first sitting of parliament is provisionally scheduled for the 22nd of May and the National Council of Provinces for the 23rd of May – subject to an official announcement by Mogoeng. The list of people to be sworn in was drawn from the national, regional and provincial lists submitted by the victorious political parties.
