Global economy has begun to accelerate

After years of disappointing growth, the global economy has begun to accelerate but the recovery remains fragile as countries, particularly in Africa, are urged to invest more in their people. That was the opening salvo from the leaders of both the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington at the start of their high level meetings with Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from around the world. While South Africa is forecast to grow by a mere 0.7% in 2017, global growth driven in part by developing and developed economies is expected to expand at a healthy 3.6% this year.
