Eskom’s power outages has had a knock on effect on the economy with businesses losing money, the rand weakening and many mines having to suspend their operations.
The Minerals Council of South Africa says the power utility sent out a notice on Monday to key industrial users asking them to cut down their operations to essential service levels only. The Minerals Council represents 90% of the mines in South Africa.
