A number of organisations including activists, actors, and other creatives held a picket outside the United States Embassy on Monday. They are unhappy about attempts by some American organisations in the creative industries to challenge South Africa’s efforts to update copyright legislation. This follows the passing of the contentious Copyright Amendment Bill which is now awaiting President Cyril Ramaphosa’s signature, as well as the Performers Protection Bill.
