Deetlefs could be charged after he admitted to assaulting Hogan

Former police special branch officer, Nicolaas Deetlefs, could face criminal charges for assaulting former Public Enterprises Minister, Barbara Hogan, in the early eighties. This emerged at the inquest into the death of anti-apartheid activist Neil Aggett. Aggett was found hanging in his cell at the then John Vorster Square Police Station. His family rejected the official version of suicide, believing he was in fact murdered. Deetlefs has admitted assaulting Hogan.
