Tonight we’re asking if SAA should be allowed to crash, or if it can be saved. Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has met with the staff of the beleaguered airline and he’s put SAA management on notice. In a statement at the weekend he said the board and management of SAA should show more urgency and implement immediate interventions. SAA has been losing money for years and has to pay back R14 billion in debt in March. Recently Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni, suggested the airline can’t be turned around and should just be closed down. To discuss we’re joined by economist Dawie Roodt.
