Competition amendment draft bill: Rosalind Lake

The Minister of Economic Development and Competition Commission have expressed concerns that the current provisions of the Competition Act do not adequately allow the Competition Authorities to address issues created by the large number of highly concentrated markets in South Africa. The minister has just published the Competition Amendment Bill (the Draft Bill) which aims to, among other things look the racially-skewed ownership of the South African economy and empower the Competition Authorities to create more opportunities to advance transformation of ownership of the economy.
