Former Hawks Head in KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Johan Booysen, says he’s angry, not relieved, about the withdrawal of all charges against him and the Cato Manor Organised crime unit. Three of the 30 accused arrested and charged in 2012 for racketeering and murder, among other crimes, have since died. Booysen, now retired from the police, says the charges were trumped up to prevent the unit from pursuing key individuals.
