Broadcasting Trade union- Bemawu – is taking legal action against the President and the Minister’s of Finance and Communication – for failing to provide the SABC with financial assistance.
This after more than 2000 litres of diesel leaked from a back-up generator in the Auckland Park building during load shedding yesterday. The union speaking to the SABC says they want an independent investigation into the cause of the incident.
SABC staff were evacuated from the broadcasters Radio Park building and will return back to work next Monday.
Three employees were hospitalized after inhaling diesel fumes.
Two have since been discharged.
