The Gender Equality Commission has weighed in on the controversial tweets posted by Basic Education Spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga. The tweet showed images of women who were not fully-clothed.
The caption of the post was bid to encourage a reading culture to promote the department’s “Read To Lead” campaign.
The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities says it commends initiatives to encourage learning but has condemned the use of sexy images to support such campaigns.
