The ruling on the case between Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane and President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to be made next week. Legal representatives for both parties argued their case in the North Gauteng High Court on Thursday.
Mkhwebane is opposing the President’s application for an interdict to delay the implementation of remedial action against Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.
The matter relates to Gordhan’s approval of an early pension payout to then SARS deputy Commissioner Ivan Pillay, 9 years ago.
To discuss what seemed like a busy week for the Public Protector and other stories that made headlines this week, we’re joined by Political Analyst, Professor Tinyiko Maluleke, from our Pretoria studios.
