A Port Elizabeth man, who tossed his baby from a roof while resisting the demolition of illegal shacks, will make his first appearance at the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court today.
The 38-year-old man allegedly flung his one-year-old from the roof of a shack last Thursday, in a desperate effort to resist eviction from the Joe Slovo informal settlement in Kwadesi.
He’s been in police custody since his arrest.
The shocking incident occurred during the demolition of illegal structures conducted by the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
The baby was caught by a policeman and placed in the care of a social worker.
